As the days get colder, it's worth rethinking your usual dog routine. This is not only practical, but also health-protective.
At first, it only starts to get colder in the morning and evening, and during the day we can still enjoy the blessed rays of the Indian summer. However, this will soon end, and rainy, even cold weather will set in. These changes also justify several changes in the field of dog walking.

One of the most obvious things to do when it comes to protecting your dog from the cold is to dress your dog. For certain breeds, as well as for elderly and/or chronically ill dogs (among others, those with arthritis or other musculoskeletal complaints are very sensitive to the cold), and young animals, it is advisable to wear a sweater, and eventually a coat; in the rain, a waterproof raincoat is the most practical.
It's also a good idea to time your walks to fall during warmer hours. If you can, leave a little later in the morning and bring your evening outings earlier.
When dressing, it's important to make sure that both you and your dog are visible. Many dog clothes come with reflective stripes, but it's best to add a reflective collar and/or leash to your outfit. There are also high-visibility vests available specifically for dogs, and a light on the end of the leash that faces you can help you stay visible.

Cold, wet, and then icy ground puts more strain on the paw pads. You can protect your pet's paws with paw care products, shoes, and boots. It is worth gradually getting your pet used to the accessory; it is best to try it in the apartment at first.
