Once again, we must speak out against the so-called ‘trends’ that are undeservedly popular on social media. If you don’t know what we’re talking about, that’s a good sign – but you should definitely keep reading, as you might come across this shocking phenomenon too.
Let’s start with a little explanation, as some of our readers may not be familiar with the term in this context. The ‘trends’ on social media are supposedly funny tasks that someone comes up with and then shares on their own profile, encouraging other users to imitate them. And there’s usually no shortage of followers, so one of these challenges (as such tasks are now called) can spread across the world in a matter of moments. This is problematic even when someone puts themself in an embarrassing or often dangerous situation, as it sets a bad example and puts others — especially younger people — at risk. Unfortunately, however, it is often pets, or even people’s own children, who end up suffering from these — to be perfectly honest — stupid acts. In the end, it’s your relationship with your dog that suffers because of these videos.

Dogs often fall victim to this fame-chasing madness. One of the latest ‘games’ (we deliberately won’t show any of them to avoid giving them more attention) involves the owner reaching under the armpits of their unsuspecting, resting, napping pet, picking them up, and spinning around with them. There’s no need to explain what the poor creature must experience in that moment! Not only are they terrified, but they also don’t understand why the person they love is doing this to them. This can lead to a loss of trust on the dog’s part, damaging the bond between them. And if something goes wrong, the dog could even suffer physical injury!
Sadly, this is not the first time that some people have subjected their pets to what they think are funny acts of torment. As we’ve written before (on our hungarian site), it’s equally dangerous when someone starts barking and growling like mad at an unsuspecting dog, or scares them while wearing a mask or disguise.

We assume that many people join in simply out of ignorance, because they have no idea how harmful these things are for the animal. But they are extremely harmful! That’s why we ask you to always take a critical look at everything you see on social media, and only do things with your pet that they truly enjoy! A long walk, learning a new trick, or a nice massage — those are what truly count as quality time spent together.
In this article, we show you six ways to show your dog some love. One of them is cuddling – perfect for this cosy weather.
