We can welcome a new Guinness record holder, Minnie, the Great Dane, who is currently officially the tallest female dog in the world.

The 97.5-centimeter-tall Great Dane was adopted by her owners, Ken and Lisa Nogacek, when she was two months old. However, the tiny four-legged puppy soon lived up to her name: by the time she was one year old, Minnie had grown to the size of a “bear cub” and weighed 16 kilograms. The pace of growth did not stop, so at two and a half years old, the imposing bitch could easily look over the kitchen counter and claimed the entire length of the sofa for her afternoon nap. However, her owners had no idea that their pet could be a world record for size, until they asked their daughter to look after the dog during a vacation.

The lady is a veterinary assistant and also raises Minnie's sister, so she has an insight into average sizes. She noticed that her parents' four-legged friend was quite large. She examined the statistics and records of previous record holders. That's how it turned out that Minnie had a chance to win the title.

Since the dog had not yet reached its final size, the owners decided to wait until 2025 to make the announcement. Finally, in 2025, when Minnie was three and a half years old, they approached the Guinness World Records organization. The official measurement was made difficult by the dog's nervousness, but in the end, they managed to measure the large dog - this required a measuring stick used for miniature horses, which suggested that they were dealing with a new record holder.

Finally, with her favorite snack, a little natural peanut butter, she managed to calm the four-legged friend down, and based on the official measurement data, Minnie, with her height of 97.5 centimeters, officially became the tallest female dog in the world.

The tallest dogs are Great Danes

This puts her more than a centimeter above the previous record holder, Lizzy, also of her breed; she is 96.41 centimeters tall.

However, no one of these dogs has ever managed to win the title of tallest female dog in the world, as it is held by another Great Dane, Morgan, at 98.15 centimeters.
