This little chick either has no sense of fear at all, or, relying on a characteristic trait of golden retrievers, they undertook the daring act.
In the video the little chick snuggles into the dog’s mouth just like under their mother’s wings. That the case did not end in tragedy may be due to the gentle nature of golden retrievers and a peculiar trait of theirs. The breed was originally started to be bred for hunting purposes in Scotland. They wanted to create the perfect retrieving dog, who brings the shot game to the hunter gently and without injury even with their strong jaws. From this comes the expression soft-mouthed, which is generally used for the different retrievers.
However, the golden retriever did not only win the chick’s trust: this dog is the favourite of many people, not by chance. Among their merits are an exceedingly friendly as well as obedient nature, a high degree of attachment, and the fact that they are very easy to teach.
Because of all this they become an excellent family, hunting, or assistance dog, as a representative of the breed can often be seen in each of these roles. In addition, they also work well as a sporting companion, so it is worth trying dog dancing with them, agility, but you can even take your goldie with you on hikes and excursions.
This is not the only example of the close relationship between dogs and birds. In the video below, for example, you can see how a truly capable sinka herds a team of geese.
