A well-trained dog doesn’t just rush through any door; they only go when given permission. But this beagle needed more than just permission.

As we mentioned in an earlier article, teaching our pets the “door rule” can be crucial—even life-saving. But the dog in this video gives a whole new meaning to the rule by refusing to go through a door.

It’s no surprise that dogs can’t open doors by themselves, and they have every right to expect us to help. The beagle in the video was very much attached to this custom, even when his owner simply walked through what appeared to be a glass door—or, more precisely, the space where the glass used to be.

The dog didn’t understand how his owner managed to defy the laws of physics and wasn’t willing to follow him through the doorway. From his past experiences, he knew there was supposed to be glass there, and walking into it didn’t feel good. Plus, you’re only supposed to go through a door if it’s actually open. So, no matter how much his owner or dog friend encouraged him, he wouldn’t budge. Despite seeing there was no barrier, he just couldn’t believe his eyes.

We can almost hear his thoughts,

Can’t you see I can’t go through? I really want to, but there’s that door—why don’t you open it? Please, let me through!

He even voiced these thoughts, and eventually, his owner gave in to his pleas. He “opened” the door, restoring the dog’s world to normal.
