Under the house was something no one had expected. The family dog was the one to discover it.

Crystal Weaver, from Duncan, Canada, noticed her dog's unusual barking on December 28. Coco, her two-year-old four-legged friend, was running up and down the garden, whining and barking nervously. At first, they thought she was chasing raccoons, but what they eventually discovered froze the blood in their veins

They failed to discover that night what was causing Coco's anxiety. The next day, Crystal's husband conducted a thorough search of the yard to find out what was agitating the dog. He rushed back to the house in a hysterical panic to notify the authorities. A huge black bear had moved in under the Weavers' house. What happened next? CTV News reported the incident and released a video.

In Canada, black bears are not uncommon, and they often forage around houses in search of food, sometimes destroying infrastructure in the process. This time, however, was different, as the bear found a suitable hiding place under the house to hibernate.

According to wildlife biologist Helen Davis, the bear likely couldn't find a suitable natural den in the area, so it took shelter under the house.

Dogs are very good at finding things, even if they don't pose a danger. Our furry friends enjoy using their noses, and it is important to give them opportunities to do so. Here are some reasons why you should let your dog sniff during walks.
